Time to say thank you
Well, when was the last time you said thanks to someone? If you have an answer right away without having to think about it, that’s a good sign. Saying thank you once in a while is actually not difficult and yet we usually do it far too seldom, although this little word can change and move many things. That’s why we think it’s super nice that January 11th is all about saying thank you, because on this date many countries in the world celebrate the international Thank You Day.
Who initiated the Thank You Day?
In contrast to many other curious holidays, Thank You Day actually gives quite concrete information about who is responsible for its creation and since when the day has been celebrated. Many sources refer to the year 1994 and to Adrienne Sioux Koopersmith, who comes from Illinois. But it is not quite clear why the Thank You Day falls exactly on January 11th. It is very likely, however, that there is no direct connection in terms of content with the three other holidays that are also celebrated on January 11th: German Apple Day, Milk Day in the USA and Puddle Day. Although there are, of course, good reasons to be grateful for the existence of crisp apples, fresh milk and the pleasure of puddle-jumping.
How do you celebrate Thank You Day?
You can guess three times how Thank You Day is celebrated. Actually not so difficult, because the name says it all. The best way to celebrate tomorrow’s holiday is simply to use it to say thank you. If you think about it for a moment, you will surely think of many people in your environment who deserve a small thank you. The first thing you think of is probably your family or friends. But also the postman, the cashier in the supermarket around the corner or the friendly neighbour who always accepts your parcels when you are not there would certainly be happy about a heartfelt thank you.
And while you are at it, you can also use tomorrow to simply be thankful for everything you have already achieved, the good things that have happened to you and all the lovely people around you. The International Thank You Day is just the perfect day to focus on the positive things in your life and to really enjoy them.
